MarketComm Brochure/Poster Wins National Award

CHARLOTTE, N.C., May 13, 2002 -- A brochure and poster concepted and written by MarketComm recently won a bronze medal in the national Healthcare Advertising Awards. More than 3,400 entries were received representing 1,500 healthcare institutions in all 50 states.

The brochure and poster were created for MarketComm-client Community Health Services, Inc., a nonprofit organization that provides a variety of health-related services to individuals with limited access to traditional healthcare. The brochure was produced for the organization~s annual giving campaign and is used for ongoing communication.

"Community Health Services was seeking to make a more aggessive statement about its services and to introduce people in the community to the real needs that exist," said MarketComm President Stern Dixon. "We created a 6x9 mail piece that is a brochure on one side and a poster on the other. The headline for the brochure front -- and the poster -- says "1 in 10 People Die from Limited Access to Health Services." The poster features red type on a sepia duotone. It makes quite a dramatic statement that expresses the needs of the people Community Health Services serves in a dramatic way."

Judges for the competition consisted of a national panel of healthcare marketers, advertising creative directors, marketing and advertising professionals and the editorial board of Healthcare Marketing Report, who sponsors the competition and publishes a monthly healthcare marketing magazine.
